The Texas Red Oak develops a rather typical shape and form for the species, with a dense rounded canopy. The Texas red oak may also be found as a multi-trunked specimen in the wild. They are moderately fast growing for a hard wood tree. The bark is thick with scaly ridges separated by deep, dark fissures."
